Staying healthy can be extremely demotivating, especially when you are sitting behind a computer all day. Here are some easy ways to help you be healthier, even when you’re in the office.
Bring Plenty of Healthy Snacks
You are inevitably going to get hungry during the day between break times. It can be far too easy and far too tempting to reach for a packet of crisps. Instead, try and bring in some healthy snacks such as;
- Carrot sticks
- Nuts
- Kale chips
- Rice cakes
There are plenty of healthy snacks that you can take instead.
Bring Your Own Lunch
When you buy your lunch every day, you have no real way of controlling what goes into it. Bringing lunch from home allows you to control it.
Meal prep can be a great way to plan out your food for the week, meaning that you won’t need to worry about making your lunches every night of the week.
Stand Up and Stretch
It’s no surprise that sitting down for extended periods of time is bad for you. That’s why it’s important to stand up and stretch as often as you can throughout your day in the office.
Ideally you want to be standing up for at least half an hour at your desk. If you can’t do that, then getting up at least once an hour and stretching will do you the world of good. You should also try and do some stretches at your desk throughout the day.
Practice Smart Computer Habits
Working at a computer can be bad for your back, neck, eyes and head. So ensure you take small breaks in between each task, sit up straight and move positions occasionally.
Take the Stairs
Where possible, take the stairs during your workday instead of the lift. This will help get your blood pumping and increase blood flow, giving you more energy and brain power. As well as helping to keep you fit.
Work Out in the Middle of the Day
During your lunch break, try doing a quick work out. If possible, go to a nearby gym or fitness class. This will leave you feeling revitalised and ready to start working again.
Drink Plenty of Water
Your body needs water and it’s quick to tell you when you haven’t been consuming enough. Ensure that you keep a fresh bottle of water on your desk to drink during the day. Also, ensure that you drink plenty of water between coffees in order to rehydrate and make sure you don’t get a headache.
